Locks
There are 24 Locks on the River Great Ouse and its tributaries. Each of them has its own unique history.
Starting at Bedford Lock and travelling downstream to Denver. Follow the links below to find out more about your nearest locks including lock dimensions. Please bear in mind that lock dimensions are only a guideline and cannot be guaranteed.
Recycling facilities are available at Hermitage Lock and St Ives Lock.
Bins for the collection of general waste are located at Denver Lock, Hermitage Lock, St Ives Lock and St Neots Lock. Over the summer months additional refuse bins are located at the Relief Channel Lock and the Jennyns Arms.

The Environment Agency is the navigation authority from the head of navigation in Kempston and manages the Great Ouse and its tributaries. There are other navigation authorities that cover the tidal Great Ouse and some of the connecting rivers.
