"The route from Ely to Bottisham Lock is a twitchers paradise, I was amazed to see 6 herons all in one day and along with the usual ducks swans and geese we spotted cormorants and grebe on the nest. The thistle bed at Wicken Fen added colour to the scenery and the array of different boats and crafts made the whole trip extremely interesting. The sculptures along the embankment and an abandoned treehouse (what a waste!) also added interest. I was also quite suprised at the lack of litter in the river; in general it appeared a lot cleaner than I was expecting." J. Wood, June 2010
