Fishing

Whether you’re a serious match angler or just looking for a leisurely day out, the River Great Ouse will have you hooked.
The River Great Ouse offers a variety of fishing opportunities for the angler.
The upper river, around Milton Keynes, is renowned for its record breaking specimen barbel and perch.
Moving downstream, between Bedford and Huntingdon, pleasure anglers can target a variety of coarse species, such as chub.
The lowland section of the river that runs through the Fens regularly plays host to national angling competitions, where huge weights of bream and roach can be caught.
But it's not just the main river that attracts anglers. The Great Ouse catchment includes tributaries that are excellent fisheries in their own right such as the River Ivel, the River Cam and the Little Ouse. All offer a different angling experience, whatever your preference or fishing skill level.
The adjacent Fen Drains are renowned for quality winter fishing and a chance encounter with a large predatory pike or zander.
You could contact one of the many angling clubs that are active on the Great Ouse and its tributaries for more details about fishing in this area.
